The Muppets Are Coming to the Disney Fantasy

The Muppets are coming to the Disney Fantasy! While playing “The Case of the Stolen Show,” guests take an interactive adventure quest around the ship, uncovering clues via more than a dozen pieces of Enchanted Art and physical “evidence.”

The adventure begins with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal and a cast of more than 20 Muppets preparing to stage a big performance. But there’s a problem: Kermit’s banjo is missing, Fozzie’s squirting flower has vanished, Gonzo’s crash helmet has gone astray, Animal’s drum sticks have disappeared and the Swedish Chef can’t find his cleaver! All of the props for the big show have been stolen by a cunning thief (or more likely, another Muppet).

Pepe the King Prawn offers to take on detective duties to help Kermit and the rest of the Muppets find their missing props. Kermit, worried about Pepe’s lack of detective skills, turns to the guests for help.

Guided by a map and holding a unique game card in front of select pieces of Enchanted Art, guests unveil clues and find missing props. Elsewhere on the ship, guests may check a Muppets message board and find a Muppet-sized stateroom door to discover clues. Their mission is to identify the culprit and solve the crime before it’s time to raise the curtain and light the lights on the Muppets’ big show.

“The Case of the Stolen Show” is a self-paced adventure game designed for guests ages nine and older. It features several possible endings and multiple randomized events – so each time a guest plays, they have a different gaming experience.

Disney currently operates three ships:

The Disney Magic, which was launched in 1998 and is cruising 7-Night Caribbean cruises before going to Europe from May through September 2011.

The Disney Wonder, which was launched in 1999 and is now based on the West Coast and is cruising to the Mexican Riviera from Los Angeles, CA through April 2011 before heading north to Alaska for the Summer. The Disney Wonder will return to Long Beach in September to continue cruising to Mexico.

The Magic and the Wonder are almost identical except for the interior design (Art Deco for the Magic, Art Nouveau for the Wonder). Both are 83,000-ton vessels with 875 staterooms.

Disney Cruise Lines just expanded its fleet with the Disney Dream, which does 3-Night, 4-Night, and 5-Night Bahamian cruises. The new ships are 122,000 tons and two decks taller than the previous ships. Each of the new ships will have 1,250 staterooms.

Disney Unveils 2013 Itineraries Including Mediterranean and Miami Departures

In 2013, Disney Cruise Line will offer new itineraries, including an expanded portfolio of European cruises with new destinations such as Venice, Italy, and the Greek Isles. In addition, Disney Cruise Line will utilize a second homeport in Florida, with Caribbean sailings departing from the Port of Miami for the first time.

With the addition of the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy to the fleet of cruise ships, Disney Cruise Line is able to take more families to more destinations around the world. Disney Cruise Line has always catered to the unique vacation needs of families, and next year will be enhancing the cruise options for guests — whether it’s sun and sand in the Caribbean, outdoor adventures in Alaska or experiencing the wonders of Europe.

Highlights of the Disney Cruise Line 2013 schedule (which can be booked beginning Jan. 26, 2012) include…

Mediterranean from Barcelona

Beginning June 1, 2013, the Disney Magic returns to Europe with plenty of new twists to the Mediterranean itineraries, including a four-night option and special 12-night sailings in addition to seven-night itineraries that treat guests to the best of Europe during the three-month season.

The new 12-night sailings visit destinations such as Venice, Italy, and Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast on one itinerary and Ephesus, Turkey and the Greek Isles including Athens, on another. Each itinerary will offer a sailing departing in June and another departing in July.

All itineraries depart from Barcelona, Spain, as the Disney Magic takes guests on an exciting journey of richly diverse cities, cultures and people. Disney Cruise Line will sail from Miami for the first time on Dec. 23, 2012. One six- and one seven-night Caribbean sailing aboard the Disney Wonder will set the stage for a schedule of four- and five-night cruises from Miami to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean between Jan. 5, 2013, and May 2, 2013. The four- and five-night cruises have a variety of itineraries. Ports of call may include Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman; Key West; Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

The itineraries offer families magical days at sea to explore all of the fun aboard the Disney Wonder and days in port to lounge on warm, golden beaches, to swim and snorkel in azure waters or to shop to their heart’s content in exotic marketplaces.

Special Eastern Caribbean sailings, January through April 2013, stop at San Juan, Puerto Rico. All Disney Fantasy itineraries include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

AquaLab Coming to the Disney Fantasy

At AquaLab on the Disney Fantasy, families can frolic among pop jets, geysers and bubblers in this fun and fanciful water play area. Located near the entrance to the AquaDuck water coaster on deck 12, AquaLab features a variety of water “experiments” designed to drench the whole family. By turning wheels and moving levers at three wacky aqua stations guests “control” the speed and temperature of AquaDuck. At a leaky wall, kids cover holes in squirting and spurting pipes with their hands. In another area, water leaks and sprays from the Ducky Dinghy, suspended overhead.

Disney Fantasy Celebrates 'Float Out' at Meyer Werft Shipyard

The Disney Fantasy floated out of the enclosed building dock at the Meyer Werft shipyard on January 8, 2012, reaching another key milestone in the construction process. Thousands of visitors lined the shore to catch a first glimpse of the newest Disney ship.

The 'Float Out' is a special maritime event and one of the ship's final stages of construction, where exteriors become complete and interiors receive their finishing touches. Captain Mickey Mouse was on hand for the celebration, which included a fireworks spectacular to mark the occasion.

The Disney Fantasy will remain in the Meyer Werft shipyard harbor for about two weeks before departing to convey down the River Ems where its destination is the North Sea at the port of Eemshaven, The Netherlands. The ship will then undergo Sea Trials and finally make its way to Bremerhaven, Germany where it will remain alongside until February 16, when it leaves for the Atlantic crossing to its homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida.

The Disney Fantasy will sail alternating seven-night cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean and Disney's private island paradise, Castaway Cay, with the maiden voyage scheduled for March 31, 2012.

New Experiences
Disney's newest ship will bring to life many of the innovative features guests love on the recently launched Disney Dream including AquaDuck — the world's first shipboard water coaster. But new design elements and guest experiences will give the Disney Fantasy an identity all its own.

Some of the new highlights found on the Disney Fantasy include:

Europa - a nighttime entertainment district exclusively for guests 18 and older that features sophisticated bars and trendy lounges inspired by the very best in European travel.
A new, innovative show for the Animator's Palate restaurant where diners will serve as guest animators. During the "Animation Magic" show guests are asked to hand-draw a character of their own at the start of dinner. After an entertaining show featuring montages from Disney animated films and shorts, guests prepare for a whimsical finale moment where the guest-drawn characters spring to life and interact with characters from beloved Disney animated classics.
At Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique aspiring young princesses and pirates receive the full fairy tale treatment with pixie-dusted and piratical makeovers at this very special salon.
A new ship means new main stage entertainment at the Walt Disney Theatre:

"Wishes" is a spectacular production debuting on the Disney Fantasy. This signature show is a 45-minute musical journey about three best friends who discover that the secret to being a grown up is staying connected to their inner child. Full-scale production numbers and special effects bring excitement to the stage as the cast of "Wishes" performs original songs and classic Disney tunes with a contemporary twist.
New to Disney Cruise Line®, "Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular" takes the stage on the Disney Fantasy. During this Broadway-style production, guests laugh along with the wise-cracking Genie and the cast from the classic animated Disney film, "Aladdin."

Guests can splash and play in the AquaLab - a brand-new water play area on deck 12, near the entrance to the AquaDuck water coaster. Can We Bring Alcohol Onboard?

Answer: Alcohol is permitted on board. However, any fragile items (including alcoholic beverages) must be hand-carried on board in the carry-on of an adult Guest – age 21 or older (dimensions can't exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep).

Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.
Guests who arrive in the dining room, including Palo and Remy, with a bottle of champagne or wine will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.

Please be advised: Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to remove fragile items (including beverages) from checked luggage. In such cases, items will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Beverage containers are considered fragile and have previously caused damage in checked luggage. All fragile items must be transported inside carry-on luggage.

Question: What proof of citizenship do I need to bring?
Answer: In order to board the ship, all Guests are required to provide proper travel documentation. Guests unable to provide proof of citizenship will not be permitted to sail.

Passport Requirement
All travelers, including U.S. Citizens and all foreign nationals, are required to have a valid passport to enter or re-enter the United States by air.

Visa Requirements
In addition to a valid passport, many countries require an entry visa based on your nationality. It is each Guest's responsibility to identify and to obtain all the necessary visas before embarking on the cruise. Because requirements may vary, Guests are advised to contact their local Consulate or Embassy for more information on required travel documentation for all ports of call during the cruise.

Plan Ahead to Get Your Passport Early

In order to maintain a safe and secure environment for Guests and crew, the following are examples of items that Guests are not allowed to bring on board. These and other similar items will be confiscated upon being found.

Weapons and firearms (including ammunition, knives—including dive knives—swords, daggers or any other types of weapons) are not allowed onboard under any circumstances
Realistic replicas of firearms and weapons
Highly flammable liquids and combustible substances
Non prescribed controlled substances, illegal drugs, medically prescribed and synthetic marijuana
Power Tools and Tool boxes (except those tools of the trade utilized by vendors providing services)
Sporting equipment (i.e., baseball and cricket bats, hockey and lacrosse sticks, pool cues, ski poles, fishing gear and archery equipment.)
SCUBA equipment (i.e., tanks, spears guns /slings, dive knives, pry bar, and underwater scooter)
Kites, balloons, surfboards, wave boards, inflatable floats/pools (including pool noodles), and wagons
Bicycles, Segways, skateboards, inline & roller skates, any footwear with wheels, (i.e. Heely's type shoes)
Electrical appliances such as rice cookers, hot plates, coffee makers, electric irons, bottle sterilizer and bottle warmers, etc. Please note: A limited number of approved bottle warmers and bottle sterilizers are available upon request through Guest Services. Also all ships offer laundry facilities with irons and ironing boards. Valet laundry service is also available for a nominal fee.
Candles & Incense
DVD, VCR, or Blu ray players or, Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Wii gaming systems are not allowed because of compatibility issues with the stateroom TVs
Musical instruments
Large Ice Coolers (Please note: small, personal-sized coolers, no larger than 12" x 12" x 12" brought onboard for the purpose of housing medications are permitted as carry-on luggage.)
Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable food items plus any open snack containers
Metal detectors are not allowed on the ship or on Castaway Cay, as any object found using thesedevices would need to be returned to the owner or donated to charity
Personal fireworks or pyrotechnics
Seasonal and celebratory lighting strings
Liquid oxygen

The following items are permitted but with the following restrictions:

Walkie-talkies and two-way radios (e.g., Motorola, JVC). Please be aware that the amount of steel in the ship's infrastructure may cause some "dead zones" and the radios may not transmit in these areas.
A small portable fan. However, please contact Guest Services to have the Chief Electrician approve the use of your particular appliance in the stateroom.
Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices (PFDs) and flotation sewn into the bathing suit for safety. However, recreational floating devices such as floats, rafts and fun noodles cannot be brought on board and are not permitted in the pools or on Castaway Cay.
Golf clubs, as long as they are stored in your stateroom.

Which Food Storage Conatainers Are Permitted

Question: What food or food storage containers are not permitted?
Answer: Food coolers containing personal snack foods and drinks may not be brought onboard. They are only permitted if needed for medications, baby food or items related to special dietary needs.

Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable items plus any open snack containers cannot be brought on board. Limitations on permitted food items are directly related to concerns for food safety and contamination prevention.

Disney Cruise Line regrets that the crew members on board are unable to provide food preparation, refrigeration or storage for personal food or beverage items. Disney Cruise Line cannot verify the cleanliness of the environment in which pre-cooked or homemade food items were prepared, and so for the safety of all Guests and crew, these items are not permitted aboard the ship.

The following electrical appliances are not permitted on board due to safety concerns: rice cookers, hot plates, coffee makers, bottle sterilizers and bottle warmers. A limited number of approved bottle warmers and bottle sterilizers are available upon request through Guest Services. In addition, Guests can request hot water to be delivered to their stateroom at any time from Room Service.

Alcohol is permitted on board. However, be aware that any fragile items (including bottled alcohol) must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on bag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep. Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area. Guests who arrive in the dining room with a bottle of champagne or wine that has been brought on board will be charged a corking fee of $20.00 per bottle.

Port Adventures are shore excursions selected by Disney Cruise Line® to provide the very best recreation, leisure and sightseeing for each destination with the peace of mind that comes from letting someone else do all the planning. As some Port Adventures are quite popular and space can be limited, we recommend all Guests reserve excursions online once the cruise vacation has been paid in full. Guests can also book or make inquiries onboard at the Port Adventure Desk.

Convenience without the Hassle

Maximize time ashore - avoid getting lost, long waits, negotiating fares and currency exchange.
Tour departure times coincide with the ship's schedule and other tours, enabling multiple tours if desired.
If the ship arrives late into port, tour operators adjust their schedules. With independently booked tours, you may risk losing some or all of your experience.
Excursions are fully refunded from a missed port of call due to an itinerary change.
In the rare event your tour runs late, the ship remains in port or transportation is arranged to the next port of call at no cost to you. With late independently booked tours, Guests are responsible for all costs to rejoin the ship at the next port, including any flights and hotels.

Excursion operators are selected based upon their ability to promote a safe experience and provide unforgettable activities ashore.
Adventures are selected with different ages and abilities in mind.
A Cast Member personally escorts Guests to the tour starting point.
Some tours and inclusions may not be available through independent options.

For your safety and enjoyment, some Port Adventures have age restrictions and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Guests can cancel any Port Adventure, except select non-refundable Signature Tours, up to 3 days prior to sailing via disneycruise.com without penalty. However, once onboard, all Port Adventures are non-refundable and Guests will be charged if they cancel their Port Adventure.
